Teams

Create teams, assign players, and keep matchups competitive.

Creating Teams

Teams are created in the Teams tab during the Draft phase of a season. You set the number of teams and give each one a name. The system generates empty team slots that you fill with players from your roster.

Team names can be anything — nicknames, sponsor names, or just "Team 1." Players see their team name throughout the dashboard, standings, and schedule.

Assigning Players

Drag players from the unassigned pool into a team slot, or use the dropdown to pick a player for each position. Every rostered player should be assigned to a team before the season opens.

Tip
Subs are not assigned to teams by default. They stay in the available pool and get slotted in when a regular player can't make it.

Team Size

Team size depends on your scoring format:

Two-Person Formats
Match Play, Best Ball, Net Aggregate, and Nassau all use two-player teams. Each team fields both players every week.
Individual Formats
Stroke Play, Stableford, Modified Stableford, Points Quota, and Skins can use teams of any size. Individual scores roll up to the team total.

Balancing Teams by Handicap

Competitive balance matters. When building teams, pay attention to the combined handicap index of each team. A few strategies:

  • Pair a low-handicap player with a high-handicap player on each team
  • Sort players by index and snake-draft across teams (1st pick, last pick, etc.)
  • Keep the total combined index within 2-3 strokes across all teams
  • Revisit balance between seasons as handicaps change
Note
The handicap system levels the playing field on a per-hole basis, but large index gaps between teams can still create lopsided matchups. Balanced teams make for a better league.

Editing Teams Mid-Season

You can swap players between teams during Open or Locked states if needed — for example, if a player drops out and you want to redistribute. Past match results stay with the team that played them, not the individual player.

Renaming Teams

Team names can be changed at any time from the Teams tab. The new name applies everywhere immediately — standings, schedule, and chat.
