Playoffs
Single-elimination bracket, seeding, consolation matches, and exhibition rounds.
Configuring Playoffs
Playoff settings are configured when you create the season. The key setting is how many teams qualify for the postseason bracket. Common configurations:
Seeding
Playoff seeding is determined by the regular season standings. The team with the most points gets the #1 seed and faces the lowest seed in the first round. Standard bracket seeding applies:
- #1 seed vs #4 seed (or #8 in an 8-team bracket)
- #2 seed vs #3 seed (or #7 in an 8-team bracket)
- Higher seeds get any tiebreaker advantages
Tiebreakers for seeding are resolved by head-to-head record, then total net strokes for the season.
Single-Elimination Bracket
Playoffs use a single-elimination format. Lose and you're out. Each round is played as a regular match using the same scoring format as the regular season.
The bracket updates automatically as matches are finalized. Winners advance to the next round, and the bracket visual reflects the current state.
3rd Place Consolation Match
The two semifinal losers play a consolation match for 3rd place. This keeps eliminated teams engaged and settles the final standings for all playoff teams.
Exhibition Matches
Teams that don't make the playoffs can still play during the postseason. Exhibition matches are scheduled like regular matches but don't count toward any standings. They keep non-playoff teams active while the bracket plays out.
How the Bracket Updates
The playoff bracket is a visual component that shows:
- All matchups for each round (Quarterfinals, Semis, Finals, Consolation)
- Team names and seeds
- Match results as they're finalized
- Advancement lines connecting winners to the next round
- The champion once the Finals match is finalized
The bracket appears in the Season tab once the season enters the playoff phase. Players and managers can both see it.
